About This Spot
Stepping into Chez Michel feels like entering a cherished neighborhood nook where the rhythm slows just enough to savor morning moments or a casual midday pause. Nestled on Detroit Road in Avon, this bakery balances a welcoming buzz with a warm, unhurried atmosphere—inviting guests to settle in with a good book, meaningful conversation, or simply a quiet breath of comfort.
Here, the scents of freshly baked pastries mingle with rich coffee, creating an understated symphony that greets you like an old friend. The spaces inside reflect a thoughtful simplicity, with touches that encourage lingering over thoughtfully crafted bites and the subtle hum of friendly chatter. When the weather allows, the outdoor seating offers a lovely spot to watch the day unfold under soft sunlight, making it easy to linger and lose track of time.
The menu mirrors this feeling of comforting familiarity with a touch of French-inspired flair—imagine buttery flaky croissants transformed into generous, savory sandwiches or individual egg pastries that feel like a delicate, buttery embrace. There’s a quiet artfulness in how comfort food is elevated, whether it’s the richness of a hearty breakfast casserole or the gentle sweetness of a honey-drizzled coffee cake. Everything invites you to not just eat, but to experience a moment of ease and pleasure.
At Chez Michel, the food isn’t just about filling up—it’s about the simple joy found in expertly baked layers, the balance of savory and sweet, and the little things that make a morning or afternoon when you stop by that much better. It’s a place where familiar flavors feel lovingly reimagined, and where a thoughtfully prepared meal can become a small, restorative celebration of the day.

Even cuter than you can imagine upon hearing the name. Top-notch bacon, egg and cheese croissant and well-chosen Lekko coffee on drip. Can’t wait to return.

I love this place. The atmosphere is nice. My friend and I love to sit outside when the weather is good. Also love the coffee and all of their food. I'm a loyal customer and I've never been disappointed

I just stopped in this morning and had the hardest time deciding what to order because it all looked SO good. I don't know if you can tell in the photos but the items are GIANT especially for the price. The owner was one of the sweetest humans ever and was so helpful! I went with the Strata (Meat croissant bake), the Egg Ham and Cheese Croissant (Made fresh when I got there), a french toast bar, and a Glazed Croissant. I could be happier with my selections. It is such a cute place with a ton of great options, I want to try the hand pies next! Definitely give this place a try, they also have a market part in the front with many jams and jellies and more!

I stopped in looking for something different for lunch. The grilled cheese in a flakey pastry crust was very tasty. I also purchased a pumpkin apple turnover. The pumpkin is subtle in the chopped, lightly sweetened, cinnamon apple base. Wonderful item to finish a meal. Would also be a nice breakfast item.

Enjoyed a Sunday morning brunch at Chez Michel. The food was phenomenal! I tried the Strata, egg pastry and chocolate croissant. Each was just as good as the next but the egg pastry was my personal favorite. Buttery soft, flaky and perfectly warm. Looking forward to returning to try the illustrious “Avon’s best corned beef” as seen on the sign or the buildings exterior. Would love to see more of the French heritage told through the buildings decor!

I’ve been here 5+ times, and have loved everything I’ve tried! The people who work here are so nice - I love that they use local coffee beans and that they have a variety of homemade coffee syrups. The breakfast sandwiches are so good on either the in house focaccia and croissant but my favorite thing there is their gooey toffee butter cake!!!

A special place I found when searching for the best bakery in Avon as I was doing errands. There's nothing like a good croissant and fresh handmade pastries. It's an instant favorite and they support other locally made products. The biodegradable to go coffee cups are much appreciated too.
